Shalom,

This is a prayer to G-d that a boy with learning disabilities wrote. He's one of tens of thousands of students and adults with learning disabilities.

One out of ten children in Israel suffer from some sort of learning disability. The disability can affect reading, math, or the ability to pay attention and concentrate. Frequently, these children are mistakenly referred to as "lazy" or "slow" but they're not like this. Their problem stems from their inability to process what is learned as most of their peers process it. Children suffering from learning disabilities require special learning methods and a different learning speed. With proper treatment intervention these children will be able to function well in their studies and in social circles and will take full advantage of the individual potential hidden within them.

The Nitzan Association is an association of parents and volunteers who assist through 35 branches throughout the country, to identify, to evaluate, to treat, and to rehabilitate children and adults with learning disabilities.

At "Nitzan" we help these children blossom.

The Nitzan Association offers didactic and psychological evaluation services, para-medical treatments, rehabilitation in advance of independent living in the social and occupational areas, and more. The association has a professional and dedicated staff of evaluators, teachers, counselors, occupational therapists, psychologists, and volunteers available to the children and adults with learning disabilities and their families.

The Nitzan Association has training sessions, courses for teachers, evaluators, counselors, and professionals for advancing the public awareness in this area and deepening the knowledge.

It's important to know that all services at Nitzan are given at the lowest possible price without any profit.

Many children from families who are not able to pay for the evaluations and treatments are awarded grants.

With the help of your generous donation, we will be able to broaden our services, to evaluate more children and adults who lack funds, to assist them to overcome their hopelessness and to help them become an active part of society.

In the name of the children of Nitzan, and myself, thank you.

Ophra Elul
President of the Nitzan Association
