Linda Zimmerman is the founder and Executive Director of The Amit Program in Atlanta, Georgia.   Amit is a central agency that offers direct and in-direct support to Atlanta's Jewish day schools, congregational schools and preschools so that children with learning disabilities and/or developmental disabilities are able to receive a quality Jewish and secular education.  Services include; parent and teacher education, on-site consultations, advocacy, ability awareness programs, buddy programs for teenagers, information & referral, direct support in Jewish schools and a modified self-contained school housed in a Jewish day school for children with developmental disabilities.

 

Linda Zimmerman is an active participant in the Coordinated Network for Person's with Disabilities.  This group is made up of individuals, working throughout Atlanta's Jewish community, who offer services and supports to people with disabilities and their families.  The Network advocates  for inclusion of all people.  Through the network individuals can access support in employment, counseling, independent living, respite, social/recreational programming and education.

 

Linda Zimmerman is also the past president and current board member of the Interfaith Disabilities Network, a community wide program promoting, through education and support services, the inclusion of people with disabilities into their faith communities.  Linda is a member of the Inclusion Committee of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and the International Consortium of Jewish Special Educators in Central Agencies, which is affiliated with the Jewish Education Society of North America (JESNA).
