Early Success Program

Many of the students and families in Israel who most need Nitzan's support are those who can least afford it. Nitzan was able to begin addressing this problem in 2006.

For the "Early Success" Project, Nitzan works collaboratively with representatives of the education and welfare departments of the various municipalities. The program includes the following services and features at no cost to the families of the students involved:

  • Third-grade teachers refer students who exhibit characteristics of learning disabilities.
  • Nitzan provides these students with full, formal evaluations.
  • Nitzan's staff guides and trains teachers in the schools, providing teachers with skills and appropriate methodology needed in order to help children with learning disabilities.

  • Nitzan offers and facilitates emotional support for students. Nitzan provides this support at school, on a weekly basis.
  • Nitzan offers and facilitates support groups for parents. These groups meet monthly.
  • Student progress is monitored on a regular and methodical basis. At year's end, individual summary reports documenting student achievement are reviewed in order to facilitate planning for the following year.

  • Based on the formal evaluations, Nitzan designs and implements appropriate individual programs for students according to their individualneeds.

Nitzan staff provides direct instruction in the form of small group sessions (5-8 students per group) meeting twice a week. Again, this instruction is provided at no cost to the students' families
