Shabbat Dinner and the ambassador’s residence in Vilnius

Israel’s ambassador to Lithuania honored us with a Shabbat dinner at his residence on Friday night May 20th, 2016. Also attended the dinner, deputy minister of education and science; Dr. Natalja Istomina, as well as other officials and dignitaries. On Monday the 23nd we started the series of lectures and workshops that lasted for the week.

A three days seminar for professionals at the Center for Special needs Education and Psychology in Vilnius

Following the success of the first visit to Vilnius, Dr. Maly Danino, Anat Katznelson and Rami Gertler were invited again to give additional workshops and lectures to professionals, students and academia members. The lectures and workshops took place in the National center for special needs education and Psychology and in two leading universities in Lithuania; in Vilnius and Siauliai from May 26, 2016 – May 27, 2016

The cooperation with the ministry of education and science in Lithuania and Nitzan was initiated by Israel’s ambassador to Lithuania, Mr. Amir Maimon, a man of many talents and initiatives.
This was the second round of workshops for educators and professionals: “Coach Your Child to Success”. Deputy minister Natalja Istomina presented Nitzan, Dr. Maly Danino, Anat Katznelson, Tova Gur -Arieh and Rami Gertler with certificates of appreciation for special contribution to Lithuania Educational system.
During the three days at the center for special needs education and psychology, the participants enriched their “tool box”, experienced enlightening experiences and suggested to expand the training to all professionals at the socialization centers. This was indeed a challenging experience for us.

Meetings with senior officials, directors of special education centers, vocational rehabilitation centers and Key opinion leaders

On May 25, 2016 on our third day in Vilnius, we were privileged to meet with directors of special education centers, vocational rehabilitation centers as well as professionals from the fields of psychology and education. Deputy Minister of education, Dr. Natalja Istomina welcomed the participants. Rami Gertler presented the Nitzan’s project: “Secure Future for Adults”. Rami emphasized the importance of the project in fostering self-awareness and self-responsibility with adults with learning disabilities and ADHD in choosing careers and goals in different life aspects. Anat katznelson lectured on the importance of teachers and professional as significant role models that influence the development of children especially those with learning disabilities. Dr. Maly Danino presented the Parent Coaching (ECC) method that was developed in Nitzan. The day ended with a visit to a vocational rehabilitation center in which we learned about the programs taking place in the center as presenting Nitzan’s adult rehabilitation programs.
