Already in the beginning of elementary school, Eyal began to feel that he wasn't like all of the other children. The basic tasks which were so easy for his friends, like writing, reading, and reading comprehension, seemed out of reach. Like any other child at his young age, Eyal didn't understand the meaning of these things, and he didn't know that there was anyone who could help him. He simply felt embarrassment and that he was "not like everyone else".
Eyal invested all of his energies in concealing his difficulties and even developed special tactics in order to try to hide the problem. However, at about 10 years old, his parents began to take serious notice that his grades were dropping considerably in comparison with his friends. In response to this unnerving trend, they turned to Nitzan in an attempt to find out what was causing Eyal's difficulties.
The results of the evaluation showed that Eyal was suffering from a learning disability. He now found himself at a crucial crossroads. Would he use his disability as an excuse for low achievements or would he make the immense effort and begin the fight for his future? Eyal chose the path of success and learned over the years that this wasn't only his own personal struggle to succeed.
The greater importance was clear as he helped changed the policy of the Ministry of Education to allow accommodations and modifications on the bagrut (matriculation) exams. Also, he helped set a precedence of shortened mandatory military service for soldiers with learning disabilities, in order to allot them more time to prepare for the college-entry (psychometric) exams. After his entrance to university, he fought for recognition and allocation of adjusted-scale grades on exams in which he did not receive accommodations or modifications from the lecturer.
The message Eyal wants to pass on is that a child with learning difficulties is a normal child like all other children. He can achieve whatever his heart desires, with the help of thoughtful and understanding parents and teachers, and of course with the help of the stubborn desire of the child himself to achieve.
With the help of the skills that he acquired and the talents that he developed, Eyal has helped many children and adults deal with difficulties and obstacles that seemed in their eyes like unsolvable. Eyal's motto is that there is almost no mountain that's impossible to climb, one just needs to know the way to do it.
Today, Eyal is a successful attorney, insurance agent, financial advisor, and lecturer.
