Mical's Letter

Dear Nitzan,

I wanted to tell my small story that began a bit tough and finished, B"H, very, very happy.

Since I remember myself, I didn't succeed in learning math...a million private teachers, endless exercises, night school, but mainly a deep sense of despair and failed attempts...

When I finished high school, even though some of my grades were actually very good, I didn't receive a diploma, because I didn't succeed in passing the bagrut (graduation) exam in math.

I made a couple of attempts to pass the exam again, but they also failed, and so I found myself getting accepted to university to learn social work on condition that I pass the high school graduation exam in math.

I started my studies at the university with a big worry; I knew that my chances of passing the math exam were next to none. Then, my husband suggested an idea - why don't you get evaluated for a learning disability in math?

We got in touch with Nitzan - Ra'anana and they put me in touch with the wonderful Ruti from Kfar Saba...the evaluation, despite being long and tiring, was a pleasant experience for me, thanks to Ruti with her "golden heart". Ruti assessed me with dyscalculia! Finally a name for what I've been experiencing for years...I went out (of the evaluation) happy and calm, together with a recommendation that I be accepted to university on the basis of my other grades and that I be exempted from statistics, and of course, with her warm promise that she'll help me in anything that's needed, even to come to the Dean's office.

With G-d's kindness, we didn't need this, (here I would like to say thank you to the Exemptions Board of the University of Haifa and the head faculty of my department), they accepted Ruti's recommendations, accepted me on the basis of my other grades, and gave me an exam adjusted according to my abilities in statistics; all of this of course, with Ruti's committed accompaniment.

So, now that the future has more open doors for me in the merit of good people on the way and lots of prayers...I want to say, thank you Nitzan. And thank you to Ruti, one of the most special people I've met.

Lots of success in the important things you are doing!
